Ballet- the ultimate exercise!

Yesterday was a crazy busy day, so I made sure to join my advanced ballet class for their exercises. Every time I do an intense ballet class, I realize how good it is for me! Ballet is not a fat-blasting exercise system, but it tones muscles and strengthens your core in amazing ways! I have a crazy body- moderate scoliosis, one reconstructed knee and one that I haven't bothered to fix because surgery was worse than the actual problems. I am susceptible to tendonitis in my achilles tendon...all of this does not bother me nearly as much as it should! I think that has everything to do with my ballerina lifestyle. :)

If you live near a studio with an adult ballet class, check it out! It can change your life. My mom started dancing at 39, and now, six years later, she is a lovely dancer and has even progressed to being en pointe! How many moms and grandmas can say that?

Still going strong!

I can't believe how good I feel! I really believe it's true, that we NEED exercise to be a happy, whole person. What better way to start your day than to get your body and mind moving and feeling great.

Today is Yoga day, but yoga does not agree with my joints. Everyone thinks that because I'm a ballerina, I must do yoga and be good at it. I'm WAY not! It hurts sooooo bad! Yoga is a completely different kind of flexibility from ballet, but it does help. I have my ballet muscles nice and springy, but the ones around them are not. That might be why yoga hurts me so much.

Anyway, I am going to just do as much of yoga X as I can. The whole thing is almost 90 minutes long. I made it through 15 before things started hurting is not-good ways. So, maybe my goal will be to get through an hour of it by the end of my 90 days! It's gotta be good. I will do an extra set of ab ripper today since I was kind of on the wimpy side yesterday.

I'm really excited...I have been trying to figure out the best way for me to get started with this coaching business. I found out from my coach, Barbie, that I can hold presentations at my studio! Who would turn down a free peek at an exercise program that is all over TV? I sure wouldn't! When I was shopping for one, I wasn't sure what would be best for me. I wanted to try them all, but who has that kind of money? I have a unique situation- I am already pretty active and somewhat fit underneath this layer of baby flub, so some of the beginner programs just don't do anything for me...but I am not really experienced in other forms of exercise outside of ballet, so the more advanced programs are INSANE!

Anyway, I'm hoping this will be the best way for me to gain people to coach- and it's helpful because I'll actually know them in person! Way fun.

Yay!

Day One Down

I woke up with a full-out cold this morning, which my kids and hubby have been fighting since last weekend. I thought maybe it would skip over me, but apparently not. I was determined, however, and completed the fit test and Chest and Back. I'm supposed to do ab ripper as well, but I am going to save that for tonight because I feel dizzy now! I didn't take my before pics yet because my camera is being a dummy.

So. Now I need to promote this stuff. Here is the video for P90X...the reason I like it is that is changes all the time. I think the science of "Muscle Confusion" must be for real, because we have all experienced that burst of weight loss at the beginning of a new workout, but once your body gets acclimated to the routine, it stops changing. P90X changes up the routine every 30 days, even giving you a week of light exercise to keep it up while giving your body a chance to recover.

I am modifying it a little bit. Plyometrics is crazy hard on the knees, and mine are not doing so well, so I am going to replace it with the Cardio X and I am also dancing a full out ballet class 2+ times every week, so I am getting in the jumping and darting stuff.

I am also eating fewer calories than suggested. After doing the calculations, I was supposed to eat like 2000 calories every day- of light food! I can't do that. Too much in my tummy. So I'm closer to 1500.

If you have any questions, please contact me! And don't forget to sign up through my website so I can be your fitness coach!

Wooooowwwwwww

So last night was the big hospital fundraising event, which basically works like this: It's a huge outdoor party with about 30 local wineries and breweries pouring alcohol, more wine at the tables, and an amazing dinner. When everyone (who has paid an exorbitant amount for their admission) is sufficiently intoxicated, they auction off several items. It was awesome. Everyone was having such a great time. The wine was excellent, and somehow became even more excellent as the night went on...
We have a friend who is a winemaker, so he joined our table and brought some of his select stuff over with him....ahhhh it's so good.
So I knew I had that to do this weekend and decided it would be my last crazy day. Today I'm going to flush it out of my system with lots of water and juice and grapefruit, which makes me feel amazing. Tomorrow is day one of p90x.
I'm familiar with the meal plan for P90X, but because I don't have a ton of time to cook, I've come up with some alternatives for the meals. Mainly, this first phase is all about the lean protien and lack of carbs. When I started paying attention to labels, I learned that I could cut so many calories just by buying the low-fat and fat-free and low-sodium stuff. I didn't even have to necessarily eat any LESS food, it just needed to be smart food. When I did the math one day after my revamped grocery shopping, I had cut almost 1000 calories from my daily diet without even trying.
According to a calculator, I am supposed to eat 2100 calories a day. That is a lot of food! LOL I don't think I could eat that much unless I was eating fattening stuff...I usually feel best at 1500-1800 cals of low fat foods.
I'll be happy to share some recipes with you as I find them. The P90X recipes are really good too, they just take a long time. My favorite is the Island Pork Tenderloin salad...mmmm could eat that every day.
All right...off I go to finish my coffee.

My First Post

Hi! I'm a new coach with Beachbody and am just figuring out how all this works. I am a 26-year-old mother of two, ballet studio owner / instructor, future home-schooling mom, and a bunny fanatic.
'
After I had my second child in December 2008, I was 190 pounds and felt very weak. I am normally an active person, but back problems prevented me from doing very much exercise during my two back to back pregnancies. Worried by all the moms telling me they never did lose their baby fat, I joined Beachbody and started with Shaun T's Hip Hop Abs. Here is me on my first day of HHA. I think I was about 175.

One month later, I was down to 165.

After that, I got a little bored with doing the same thing every day. I also discovered my core strength was not what it used to be. I was trying to juggle two babies and my job, and so my resolve to exercise went down. With my first baby, I didn't have to work out much, and I lost most of the weight I'd gained with her before I got pregnant with my second, but this second baby weight was really not going anywhere! In April, I grew very frustrated and after seeing an infomercial for P90X, I bought it. I did 3.5 weeks of Phase 1 faithfully before Aunt Flo came to visit and it being my first one since having the babies, it was a baaaaaad one. But here were my results after just that first part of P90X- 150 pounds and starting to get some ab definition.

Over the summer, I've been working to strengthen my core muscles, because I really want to get through the whole P90X program. I haven't really lost anymore weight- it's kind of fluctuated between 146 and 150 all summer. I'm feeling pretty good now, and prepared to start bringing it on Monday.

If you want me to be your Beachbody coach for free, I can promise I'll give you encouragement and help you stay consistent as much as I can! We need others to help us reach our goals!
